Everyone has a story, and being able to tell it through photographs while creating an experience you’ll actually enjoy is what drew me to weddings in the first place.
My approach is hands on, no fuss, and genuinely fun. Since falling into weddings back in 2010, documenting people and their connections has become my passion. Getting to know couples, earning their trust, and capturing their day in a meaningful and story driven way is what I love most.
I care about creating real connections with the people I photograph. Often we stay in touch long after the wedding, which says it all really. I want you to feel like yourselves, have an amazing time, and walk away with photos that bring it all back. The laughter, the tears, and everything in between.
I believe being a great photographer is about more than taking good photos. It’s about showing up as someone who is friendly, calm, easy to be around, and fully present for whatever the day needs. When people feel at ease, the good stuff just happens.
I bring positive energy to every celebration and am always happy to lend a hand, offer guidance, or get amongst the fun. I want your day to feel relaxed and effortless, and I will do whatever I can to help make that happen.
Outside of weddings, I am always documenting the world around me. Photography is part of my everyday life and I love bringing that curiosity and creativity back into each wedding or elopement.
Over the years I’ve been lucky to travel the world capturing all kinds of celebrations. I have a soft spot for backyard weddings, country landscapes, wild elopements, and anywhere a couple chooses to make their own. I’m based in Newcastle and regularly work across the Hunter Valley, Sydney, and throughout New South Wales — but I’ll travel wherever your story takes me.

We are the Chauvels
I currently live in Newcastle with my beautiful wife Frankie, our son Freddie and our cat Pepper.
Frankie and I have been together since 2005 when we met just after high school. We moved from Sydney to Newcastle in 2021, and in 2023, after 18 years together, we celebrated our wedding in the mountains of Slovenia with close family and friends. It was so special to celebrate our own love after years of capturing weddings for others.
We love the simple joys in life; traveling, good food, good coffee, cooking, live music, gardening and enjoying the world around us. These shared moments deepen our connection and inspire the way I approach my photography.
Photography has been a life-changing passion for me for over 15 years. Growing up surrounded by family photos and art, I developed a love for capturing authentic moments and the beauty of the world around us. Over time, I found my place in wedding photography, where I bring creativity and genuine storytelling to every celebration.
In late 2024, we welcomed our son Freddie, who has added a new layer of joy and purpose to our lives. Together, we aim to create a life full of meaning and connection while supporting others through the stories I capture.
