The Weekly Roll / One

Welcome to The Weekly Roll. I am excited to launch this ongoing FILM project as it will allow me to share more and more of my past, present and future film work on a regular basis. I love shooting film, the process of taking my time, working on an idea and capturing that idea is a big part of why I shoot film. However too often I come back from the shoot and put the rolls in a bag and wait to find time to develop them. I have everything I need to share this work with the world, so it is my aim to look back at some things I have shot but never finished, as well as consistently share new and upcoming work I capture every week. I’d like to start with a favourite roll of mine, shot down at the Great Ocean Road in Victoria.

Roll One – The Otways & Great Ocean Road

Tucked away along the Great Ocean Road is the beautiful Otways National Park. It is here I found the Redwood forest, somewhere I had wanted to visit for a long long time. I find the Australian bush.. in general.. rather boring. The colours, the way it blends into each other and shapes the landscape. I have always wanted to visit the Redwoods in Northern California (still on my to do list) and I was so happy to find our own plantation down in Victoria.

I spent an afternoon exploring and playing around this beautiful spot. We then raced down to the remaining of the 12 Apostles for some photos as the sun dipped. There is an extra frame in here, from Laurel Hill (it was the last shot on the roll) which I am sure will be featured in the coming weeks.

Camera – Mamiya RZ67
Film – Kodak Ektar (rated at 80)
Scanner – Fuji Frontier SP3000
